Staying Inspired.

As a creative, you’re often challenged to always be “on”. – It’s your job to come to the table with new ideas and new ways of thinking. You’re the brainstormer, the concept-maker, you're the person many will turn to when they need a brilliant idea or when they need an old idea to seem new again. – If you’re not careful it can be draining.

Here’s one way we’ve found to remedy this.

Find one thing that brings you joy, and lean into it as often as you can. Bonus points if you can combine 2-3 things.

Here’s an example from my life.

In 2020 I was in a slump. We’d been disconnected from our teams, working fully remote, and thrown into a world where we had very little personal interaction with other people. I needed something to recharge my batteries, so I decided to combine 3 things I had a strong passion for:

  • Nature

  • Photography

  • Waking up early (yeah, I know, I’m weird)

I started waking up before the sun, taking my camera with me everywhere, and capturing early morning moments outside in nature. At first, it was a fun hobby, then somewhere along the line, it became something more...

Each day I did it I felt more and more inspired and more connected to the world around me. It gave me the boost I needed to look beyond the "every day" and truly think creatively about everything I was doing.

In fact, it brought me so much joy that I continue doing it today.

Attached are 3 shots from this weekend. Each captured a short drive from our home, before the world wakes up, and before my coffee has had a chance to get cold.
